About Us

What do you do?

GrassROOTS Wellness is a holistic wellness studio founded by Brittany Kitchen, Don Kolz, and Terri Schulman, dedicated to bridging the gap between modern science and mindful healing. Our holistic & integrative approach combines a wide variety of yoga classes, private lessons, and assisted stretching for the body as well as evidence-based therapies such as sound therapy, PEMF, red light, infrared, and/or hot stone treatments to support both stress management, chronic pain, and physical recovery. Lastly, we are launching ayurvedic consulting and functional medicine health coaching in 2026 to target lifestyle, diet, sleep patterns, stress coping patterns, and relationships to provide well rounded holistic health support from every angle while working in collaboration with your medical team.

Built for individuals who often fall through the cracks of conventional fitness, GrassROOTS Wellness offers a safe, welcoming space where every body can restore balance, improve mobility, and cultivate long-term health and longevity. Our mission is simple — to help you move better, feel better, and live better through personalized, science-backed care that honors all of you.

Brittany is a jack of all trades with a wide spectrum of hobbies and passions, most of which include nature, art, and health to some degree. With over seven years and 4,000 hours of yoga teaching experience and more than fifteen years teaching movement classes such as gymnastics, dance, snowboarding, and aerial acrobatics; she’s dedicated to the philosophy that “movement is medicine.” Growing up with her grandparents she adopted a preventative approach to life at a young age. Watching her grandparents suffer as a result of neglect to their health she became deeply motivated to learn as much as she could to help others prevent a similar decline.

Since 2018, Brittany has guided students through personalized yoga and mobility programs, private lessons and group classes, blending in depth anatomy and alignment education with nurturing and compassionate care. From early 2024 to August 2025, she served as the Yoga Program Coordinator at Sierra Pacific Orthopedics, working with Dr. Kasturi to design restorative classes that supported patients in their healing and recovery.

Following the program’s closure, Brittany joined forces with partners Don and Terri to found GrassROOTS Wellness — a collaborative space built for those who often fall through the cracks at conventional yoga studios. Together, they’ve created a space where science-backed therapies and mindful practices unite to help every body heal, move, and thrive.

Brittany is an E-RYT 200 yoga instructor through Yoga Alliance and received her training with School of Yoga Institute at Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. Additionally, she is a Certified Stretching Coach through the American Sports & Fitness Association, with four additional certifications in aerial arts through Aerial Physique and Cirq Fit. She is also CPR & First Aid certified.

Looking ahead, Brittany is pursuing her 300-hour yoga certification, massage therapy license, and functional medicine coaching certification — continuing her lifelong mission to help every body move better, feel better, and heal naturally.

  •  Don’s yoga journey began after suffering for years from repetitive motion injuries he sustained from his previous career in IT and Network Engineering.  Years of sitting at computer terminals left him with severe pain in his neck and shoulders as well as carpal tunnel syndrome.  Basic movements became nearly impossible, and pain was the norm.  He decided to try a class in therapeutic yoga for neck and shoulder pain.  After one class he noticed a significant release and reduction in pain.  After 6 weeks of daily classes the pain in his neck and shoulders had disappeared and he felt alive again.  The relief was so profound he became determined to share this practice with the world.

Don is a highly trained and experienced instructor that has been practicing for 13 years now and teaching for 7 years.  He holds an E-500 RYT certification with Yoga Alliance and is also a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP).  He completed his 200-hour training at the Rishikesh Yoga Teacher Training facility in Rishikesh, India and continued his training receiving his 500-hour certification from Matt Giordano’s Chromatic Yoga training program.  He furthered his training receiving a certification in Assisted Stretching from ICE.  He has a strong background in anatomy, kinesiology, and physiology that allows him to work in depth with people that have fragile bodies or are recovering from injury.
